Dan and his wife Carmelanne embrace and love all the excitement that comes with raising their four children in West Henrietta. Outside of work you can likely find Dan on the sidelines spectating or coaching one of the kid’s lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, flag football, or baseball games. He remains active in the community by volunteering at his children’s schools, sports, and scouting programs. Their new dog Harley doesn’t quite replace the Harley Sportster Dan once owned, but he is now “living dangerously” by learning to play ice hockey. He also tries to sneak in some golf, camping, and skiing during the year. While appearing “cleaned up” in his advisor role, he remains true to his roots and loves being outdoors or in his pick-up truck, generally listening to country music.

Lisa Goode

Client Liaison and Account Specialist, FINRA Series 7 and 63 registrations and NYS Notary Public

I am happy to provide answers to questions concerning your accounts and handle any requests you may have. My role at OakWood is to assist in the implementation of your financial plans and investment strategies, which many times means helping to find creative solutions to unique situations and apply them to meet your needs. Making sure you feel comfortable and informed throughout the process and ensuring that all the "T"s have been crossed and "I"s dotted is extremely important to me. As a New York State Notary Public, I am available to notarize documents for you when needed.

I have spent extensive time in the financial industry, previously working at Citi Smith Barney and Northwestern Mutual. Besides gaining invaluable experience in the securities and life insurance industries, I found personal satisfaction in truly helping people reach their life goals through financial security. My bachelor’s degree is from St. John Fisher College, with a major in Personal Finance and an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Finger Lakes Community College. I also hold FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®.

My home is in Canandaigua with my family, including my two sweet children. In the warmer months, I spend as much of my time outdoors as possible. Most weekends I can be found on family camping trips filled with hiking and kayaking. In the winter, I divide my time between my life-long passion for snowmobiling and my love of cooking. I devote my time in the kitchen to sharing family recipes with my kids. We make a good team, and the mess is worth all the fun.

Paraplanner

I assist in creating the comprehensive plans that your financial advisor customizes based on your personal circumstances and goals. The information I use spans from big picture life goals to nitty-gritty numbers. This not only helps to identify opportunities, but also the alternative solutions that may exist. My focus is providing you and your advisor the analysis and information you need in one place, so you feel comfortable and confident when making financial decisions.

Working with numbers and determining how they impact specific situations have always been enjoyable for me. I previously was an underwriter in the employee benefits industry for Aetna and Allmerica Financial, where I collaborated with a team to underwrite and design affordable life, health, and disability benefit plans for employers. My bachelor’s degree is in Mathematics and Management Science from Westminster College. Currently, I am taking college-level curriculum in financial planning.

My husband Todd and I live in Penfield and have two kids in college. My life has been in transition after spending the last several years watching track meets, volunteering in school, and actively participating in the PTSA. In my quiet time, I enjoy gardening, reading, and cooking. One thing that hasn’t changed as the kids have grown older is the whole family’s love of spending time in the happiest place on earth, Disney World.

Melissa McNaughton

Strategic Planning Manager

I have a wide range of responsibilities at OakWood, all of which have the same purpose—to maximize and align OakWood’s resources so that our advisors can focus on you. While our advisors provide the short- and long-term vision on how best to meet client needs, it is my job to make it happen. This means monitoring industry trends, utilizing advancements in technology, and continuously evaluating our structure and processes to ensure, as a team, that we deliver the best service possible.

Almost 20 years ago, I helped start OakWood and have contributed in a variety of ways since then. I also owned an advertising and marketing agency for more than 10 years, working with local businesses, including Strong National Museum of Play and Kodak. What I found most rewarding was helping small businesses establish a customer-first approach in their branding and then the ability to deliver on the promises made. Graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology, I started my career as an art director.

Mike and I live in Penfield, and all three of our kids are in college. In my newfound time, I have been enjoying reading, spending time with friends, and golfing again. I look forward to cooking big family dinners and having everyone around the kitchen table during school breaks. We are starting to travel again, though much of it involves driving kids to and from college.

Tricia Merrick

Client Concierge

I will often be the first voice you hear when you call and am happy to assist you in any way. Responding in a timely manner and providing you with the information you need is of highest importance. I will quickly be able to identify and direct your requests to the right team members for efficient service. Expect to hear from me when it is time to schedule your meetings and reviews. Building personal connections with our clients is central to my ability to provide exemplary service. I look forward to helping to meet your needs and getting to know you.

I previously worked in customer service and office administration in the private sector of aviation where the highest level of service is expected. I liked meeting new people, forming relationships, and pulling all the pieces together so that everything ran smoothly. I received my associate's degree from Monroe Community College in Business Administration.

I share my home in Rochester with my fiancé, Kyle and our furry friends, Phoebe and Bailey. I think of myself as an old soul who enjoys simple things like painting, reading, tuning in for Wheel of Fortune, and spending time with loved ones. I enjoy hiking and kayaking in the summer and skiing in the winter. My newest hobby is trying unfamiliar recipes and secretly I love video games.

Julie Mersdorf

Client Experience Manager

I look forward to seeing you at the various client education and appreciation events that we plan and hold throughout the year. Visit our client center as I frequently update it with information on upcoming events, timely articles and other useful resources. If you have feedback or suggestions on topics you would like to learn more about, let me know. I take pride in putting you first and ensuring that, as a team, we are doing everything possible to create an environment where you feel informed and at ease.

Over the many years at OakWood, I have gained valuable experience, built great relationships, and have a strong appreciation for how wonderful our clients are. I started in management, overseeing club areas for high-profile athletic venues, like the HSBC Arena and the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, experiencing great concerts and games up close. While enjoying the crazy pace and problem solving on the fly, I was ready to make a change. I attended Ohio Northern University, majoring in Public Relations and Sport Management and receiving a bachelor’s degree with honors.

I make my home in Webster with my husband Jay and two great, energetic kids. Most weekends you can find me cheering the kids on at soccer and lacrosse games, having passed on my love of sports to them. When I have spare time, I spend it outdoors and in the pool with friends and family. On quiet evenings, I enjoy scrapbooking our family memories, which is why you will always see me with a camera.

Sarah Stefanon

Client Service and Information Coordinator

I am your go-to person for any service-related account questions or requests and responsible for gathering all the information needed for creating and maintaining a complete profile of your financial picture. Your information is streamlined into our key processes for review meetings that include plans and reports, which also allows me to efficiently handle account-service action items and complete paperwork. My sole focus is to provide excellent service, and I look forward to assisting you.

My background is in marketing and as an account coordinator. While gaining expertise in project management, I had the opportunity to work on awareness campaigns for energy efficiency. More important, at an early age, I developed my customer-service know-how working at the family business, the Charcoal Corral and Silver Lake Drive-In, where we specialize in good old-fashioned family fun and serving customers with a smile. I received a Business Management bachelor’s degree from St. John Fisher College.

Originally from Perry, I now live in Webster and keep more than busy by being the pitching coach for the St. John Fisher College softball team. In my spare time, I enjoy being around friends, family, and good food─my biggest weaknesses are pizza and ice cream.
